Local Contact Point

Bizkaia:xede has been acknowledged as a local contact point (LoCP) of the European mobility network of the European Commission - Euraxess Services.

LoCPs are those institutions which offer mobility services at a local scale, face to face with researchers, such as universities, public research entities, associations, etc.

The acknowledgement of bizkaia:xede as a local contact point (LoCP) of the European mobility network of the European Commission -Euraxess Services, implies the recognition of the innovative welcome service (HARRERA/RELOCATION ADVISORY), which, since 2007, has made the labour and social integration of those foreign researchers and professionals who come to work to the Historical Territory of Bizkaia easier.

The European Commission is intensifying efforts to promote mobility and the development of a professional career amongst researchers, in order to turn Europe into a scientific excellence leader. This is the aim of the European mobility network, Euraxess Services, which seeks to help researchers and their families to organize their move to other member states.

Four initiatives

This European network comprises four large initiatives:

• EURAXESS Jobs (formerly known as European Researcher's Mobility Portal) which is a tool containing European job vacancies, subsidies and fellowships, etc.
• EURAXESS Services (formerly ERA-MORE Network) helps researchers and their families to organize their move to the destination country in more than two hundred European centres.
• EURAXESS Rights (or European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers) sets out the rights and duties of researchers and the institutions which employ them and the Code of Conduct for Recruiting Researchers.
• EURAXESS Links (formerly ERA-Link) is a networking tool to contact European researchers who are working outside our borders (USA and Japan, mainly).

EURAXESS is an essential tool to help researchers to overcome mobility barriers such as: visas, work permits, recognition of qualifications, job vacancies, salaries, taxation, pensions and social benefit transfers, heath care, social security, accommodation, schooling and educational system, language courses, information on the culture and customs of the host country, research vacancies and fellowships, etc. and it was created on 1st June 2008.

This network is made up of state and regional offices or nodes, and bizkaia:xede is one of them.
